CMSC and MobiFone delegation pay a working visit to Nokia Portugal

CMSC The Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) and MobiFone Corporation delegation paid working visit to Nokia Office in Lisbon (Portugal) and its Global Business Service Center and Experimental Centre, on February 2, within the framework of a visit to Spain and Portugal, following the participating in the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023) and other events in Barcelona (Spain).
The CMSC and MobiFone delegation was attended by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the CMSC, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hien, Chairman of the Members' Council of MobiFone and members of the delegation.
Nokia was represented by Mr. Tiago Valente, Head of Global Delivery Center - Care Operations, Ms. Catalina Fontan, Head of Global Delivery Center - Business Operations, Mr. Ricardo Pinto, Customer Chief Technology Officer, other Heads of Operations and Lab Managers under the Global Delivery Center and Nokia representative in Vietnam.
At the meeting, the Nokia representative presented the history of the Portuguese telecommunications market, in which there are 3 major mobile operators that occupy the main market share, including MEO, NOS, and Vodafone. The Portuguese market has witnessed many transitions and mergers, which are generally similar to the Vietnamese telecommunications market.

5G mobile phone services were introduced to the Portuguese market in 2021 when Portugal’s major mobile carriers MEO, NOS, Vodafone, Digi and dstelecom started the rollout of their respective 5G networks in the frequency bands 700MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2600MHz and 3600MHz. The first operator to launch 5G services in November 2021 was NOS, followed by MEO and Vodafone. The mobile operators in Portugal have currently been rolling out 5G services to individual customers and corporate customers in different marketing strategies.
Mobifone highly considered Portuguese carriers’ background of 5G network rollout as a valuable experience to learn and deploy in Vietnam.
As a part of the visit to Portugal, the CMSC and MobiFone delegation spent time in Nokia’s Global Delivery Center in Portugal. This is one of the four Nokia’s Global Delivery Centers in the world, which supports projects in Europe and Latin America. This center, which currently has 2,000 highly trained personnel with international certifications and hands-on utilization experience, provides continuous 24/7 service support for project implementation, network optimization, network operation, hardware and software technical support; application of standardized and digitized deployment processes, which improves speed, quality, and cost.

The CMSC and MobiFone delegation also paid a visit to Nokia’s Research and Development Center which has modern equipment that simulates operators' equipment in operation, serves to test software in the laboratory before it is deployed on a large scale in the customer's network, and assists in the diagnostics and correction of network problems.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the CMSC, expressed his gratitude to Nokia for welcoming and sharing the valuable information not only for MobiFone, but also the CMSC in strategic orientation, management supervision and support of enterprises. In addition, he also highly appreciated Nokia's sharing of 5G deployment experience in the Portuguese market, stating that this standardization and digitization in the 5G deployment model supported the network carriers in boosting the 5G deployment with high quality and cost-effectiveness.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Hien, Chairman of the Members' Council of MobiFone, said that Nokia's informative sharing can help MobiFone to further improve the 5G strategic program and successfully fulfill the core tasks in the national digital transformation in promoting the development of digital infrastructure and digital technology.
