CMSC Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phu Ha welcomes representatives of Societe Generale Bank and Exxon Mobil Corporation

CMSC On July 18, Vice Chairwoman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) Nguyen Thi Phu Ha had a meeting with representatives of the Societe Generale Bank and Exxon Mobil Group.
The Societe Generale Bank delegation was led by Pascal Lambert, Group Country Head, Singapore & Head of South East Asia and India, Societe Generale.
At the meeting, Pascal Lambert said Societe Generale Bank is one of major financial service providers in Europe, having played an important role in the global economy over the past 150 years, with more than 148,000 employees, headquarters in 76 countries and 32 million customers worldwide.

With 30 years of presence in Vietnam, Societe Generale Bank has had experience in cooperation and investment with the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN). According to Pascal Lambert, apart from energy projects, Societe Generale Bank is interested in such infrastructure projects as Long Thanh Airport construction project of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and aircraft procurement projects of Vietnam Airlines. He wants to learn about the State Capital Steering Committee for Enterprises's role in projects implemented by its affiliated state-owned enterprises.
The commission’s vice chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phu Ha said CMSC was established based on Government Resolution 09/NQ-CP dated February 3, 2018, signed by the Prime Minister. The commission is assigned by the government to perform state ownership rights and responsibilities in enterprises. The commission provides implementation policy proposals to projects implemented by its affiliated state-owned enterprises, as well as monitors and verifies the projects’ efficiency.

Welcoming and highly rating the bank’s cooperation with state-owned enterprises in Vietnam as well as Societe Generale Bank’s desire to invest in the Long Thanh Airport construction project, the vice chairwoman said financial institutions and banks must fulfill Vietnam’s bidding procedures before investment in these projects.
Apart from the Long Thanh Airport construction project, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phu Ha suggested that Societe Generale Bank invest in other transport infrastructure projects including airports, waterways, railways and highways. She told the committee’s Technology and Infrastructure Department to work with Societe Generale Bank on this issue.
*In the afternoon of the same day, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phu Ha had a meeting with Exxon Mobil Corporation delegation, led by President and CEO of Exxon Mobil Vietnam, Greg Smith. The two parties discussed problems and overall plans to ensure that first gas from the Blue Whale Field will be brought ashore by the end of 2023.
